Our guests especially love to warm up next to their fireplace or in their jacuzzi tub with a cup of our heart warming Hot Cocoa that invokes memories of other visits at PrairieSide Suites. PrairieSide’s Hot Cocoa Mix
- 8 Cups Dried Milk
- 1 lb. Can Chocolate Nestlé Quick
- 1 lb [equal to 3 1/2 Cups] Powdered Sugar or 3 ½ Cups Splenda
- 11 oz. Jar Non-Dairy Creamer
- 1/3 C. Folgers Decaf or Regular Instant Coffee
Mix above ingredients. Note: in the photo of ingredients above you’ll notice a Tupperware cereal keeper on the left. We measure and toss the ingredients into this container, then snap the lid on top, then shake to mix up the recipe [so easy]. At our, Grand Rapids, Michigan Bed & Breakfast we keep this cocoa mix in a canister with cups right by our instant hot water tap in the kitchen [see picture left]. Guests may indulge themselves with this yummy goodness 24/7. Some make it with the hot water and others pour coffee over our cocoa mix, careful…this can become a morning ritual! Any extra mix stores in the original Tupperware cereal keeper.
Directions for using our mix:
- Fill your cup 1/3 full of our homemade hot cocoa mix.
- Add hot water or hot coffee over mix and stir.
- Top with whip cream or chocolate shavings.
- Fun Twists: During the holidays, stir with a peppermint stick.
- On those hot summer days our Hot Cocoa mix can be made into an Iced Mocha.
Fill any size cup 1/3 full of our hot cocoa mix. Add 1 tsp (+- to taste) of instant freeze-dried coffee (you can use regular or decaf). Cover the mixture by filling about 1/3 of your cup with hot water. Stir well to mix, then fill your cup with crushed ice and enough cold water to achieve the desired ratio. Top with a little whipped topping, chocolate syrup and a sprinkle of cinnamon, mocha powder or nutmeg.
